Q: Do my child need any previous experience in art?
A: Children who take classes at Art Studio Artishock do not need to have any background in art. I strongly believe that all children can experience and participate in art regardless their level of expertise.
Q: Do you teach formal drawing skills and techniques?
A: Yes, students ages 8 years old and up will be gradually introduced to the formal drawing techniques. However, I do teach formal drawing techniques for beginners in our TEEN CLUB class.
Q: What is the structure of a typical art class?
A: Our focus at Art Studio ARTISHOCK is to provide our students with the opportunity to explore and experience as many different concepts and mediums as possible. However, there is a certain sequence I follow:
Introduce, practice, main assignment, independent work, critique time and
Connections/references.
Q: Is there any extra curriculum activities Art Studio ARTISHOCK provides for students?
A: Yes! There lots of field trips, meetings, social painting events, parties and Annual Art Show for students to participate. All these activities are help on weekends and might require additional fees. However, you should follow information on website Facebook and check e-mail often to make sure that you have got all information regarding these activities.
Q: Is it too late to sign up for a class?
A: Although it is preferably that student start classes at the beginning of the year, it is never too late to sign up for a class here at ARTISHOCK. Using my teaching experience, I will make that new student will catch up with others and feel comfortable completing any assignment.
Q: Can we try a class before we sign up?
A: Yes! Per our policy, your child is eligible for one try out class before you sign him/her up for the session. There is $30 fee for try out class.
Q: What does the registration fee cover?
A: The registration fee covers printed course materials,
Web page maintenance fee, accounting assistance fee And organizational expenses and set up fees throughout the academic year for Artishock students.

Q: How many students do you allow in your classes?
A: 8 students per class. At Social Painting Events can be up to 20 students. In that case I do have assistants based on 8:1 ratio.
Q: Are you open during the Holidays?
A: ARTISHOCK usually closes on or around the Easter, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Years holidays. Specific closing dates will be posted on our schedules as well as on our website and Facebook page.
Q: Do I have to stay with my child during the art class?
A: No. Parents/care givers may either use the time to go run errands or stay outside but are not allowed in the work area.
I will call parent to pick up child early in case of emergency by phone number provided by parents in registration form or given number for the try out class students.
Q: What should my children wear?
A: Although we do provide smocks for each child as they enter class, I recommend that children wear clothes that are “art clothes”. Most of the art products will not stain clothes but we do have some that have.
